Raising Book Dragons
Hi, I’m Jo, a writer, mum and book lover on a mission to help parents raise the next generation of Book Dragons (little and big).
Why Book Dragons? Because Book Worms sound way less fun! I like to think of kids growing up to see books as their own special treasure and fiercely protecting them and their right to read.
Here you’ll find plenty of resources to help you start reading to your kids, encourage them to keep reading as they get older and understand how reading can give your child a headstart in life.
I also hope that reading to your child will inspire you to read more and maybe even take a step into unlocking your own creativity.
Thanks for being here and here’s to our future Book Dragons.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ME?
Here are 10 quick facts to help us get to know each other better…
I’m English and have lived in seven different countries (so far) - England, Germany, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Scotland, Fiji, New Zealand - and far too many houses to count!
I’ve studied Creative Writing, Children’s Literature, Journalism and Shakespeare
I am also a qualified Yoga Instructor, Baby Massage & Story Massage Instructor
I was once the singer Enya’s hand double in a music video
I have chronic headaches which can make life challenging and also have a bunch of food allergies - thankfully not chocolate
Five of my favourite authors are Philippa Gregory, Belinda Alexandra, Katie Fforde, Santa Montefiore and Julia Quinn
My favourite books growing up were The Black Cauldron series by Lloyd Alexander, The Famous Five, and The Bogwoppit (my more recent favourites are Harry Potter, The Cry of The Icemark series, and the Young James Bond books by Charlie Higgson)
If I’m at a party, you’ll find me nosing around the host’s bookshelf or on the floor cuddling their dog or cat
I think bookshops and libraries are the greatest places on earth
I also love Autumn, Christmas, the smell of rain, cosy socks, oversized jumpers, welly walks, hot chocolate, and books, books, and more books!
