I use what I call ‘The 3 M’s’ as a framework to support Maternal (& Infant) Wellbeing during the First 1001 Days.
What are the 3 M’s?
Movement
Mindfulness
Massage
Here’s why:
MOVEMENT = As a yoga teacher, I love how movement helps mums feel strong and powerful during pregnancy, feel physically ready for birth, and helps them fall in love with their postnatal body + heal any physical issues e.g. pelvic floor problems, diastasis recti, etc. If you don’t feel good in your body during the first 1001 days it can really affect your confidence and how you feel emotionally throughout pregnancy and after birth, which can impact your bond with your baby. Just a few minutes of yoga movement a day can make a big difference.
MINDFULNESS = Motherhood can be overwhelming and stressful, from day 1 onwards. Mindfulness (including meditation and breathing techniques) helps to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System and allows us to feel calmer, manage anxiety and stress better, and form a deeper connection with ourselves. It also helps us learn to respond more mindfully instead of reacting to situations that inevitably challenge us as parents.
MASSAGE = Infant massage is a beautiful way to deepen the relationship between mother and baby and has lots of benefits - physical, emotional, and mental. It has been shown to help mums with Post Natal Depression and is used around the world in many different cultures. Easy to learn and fun to do, Infant Massage is at the top of my list of things for new mums to learn.
You’ll find resources and offerings here that support all 3 of these. The best place to start is my FREE Mama Love Library which has lots of great resources, videos, and more. Just subscribe below for free access.
